Exploring the Potential of ChatGPT in Grammatical Error Correction

ChatGPT, an advanced language model based on GPT-3.5 architecture, has shown remarkable potential in various Natural Language Processing (NLP) tasks. However, its capabilities in Grammatical Error Correction (GEC) have not been fully explored. To showcase its potential in GEC, we conducted zero-shot chain-of-thought (CoT) and fewshot CoT experiments using in-context learning. ChatGPT demonstrated impressive performance in both settings. Our findings suggest that ChatGPT could be a highly effective tool for GEC applications.
